Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art originated from Japan. It was invented as a method for close combat but now it is purely practised as a sport.

BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using proper technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the opponent. BJJ can be trained as self-defense as well.

It is recommended for those who are looking for a sport which involves both physical and mental training. Children between 5-8 years-old are recommended to start BJJ training in order to develop both body growth and self- discipline.
